skinny downers + sweet sweet moon

This month at Poplars and Rocks at Madame Claude two fantastic new acts:
Skinny Downers‘ very first Berlin gig and Sweet Sweet Moon nearly first gig in town:
Skinny Downers is Irish expatriate Dean O‘ Sullivan, who just moved to Berlin a few weeks ago. „It all started with a loop pedal, a mixing desk and a couple of instruments. The repetitive percussion loops had a certain quality when paired with the discorded guitars and warped melodies. The songs had a way of twisting and shifting, while working with and against one driving rhythm. Music designed and performed for the listener to enjoy and interpret in their own headspace.“ A warm melancholic journey of cold wave with a heavy edge of psychedelic. „Into the void“ EP just out now on self-release and available through his bandcamp.

Sweet Sweet Moon is the name of the project of multi-instrumentalist Matthias Frey from Vienna. „Alone on stage he is creating an almost orchestral sound with violin, synths and his best sidekick the loop pedal, revealing artistic ties to the likes of Owen Pallett. For his studio recordings Matthias also plays the drums, guitar or accordion himself. Sweet Sweet Moon is known and loved for his quirky and charmingly chaotic live appearances…“ An acoustic singer songwriter with neither fear of big feeling nor the fragileness that lies beneath it, nor settling between pop and folk. SSM is signed with Viennese Siluh records, home also of bands such as Luise Pop.

Your chance to catch these young men when no one has heard of them before all world speaks about them. Special issue of the so called Berlin Music Week, as of course not being officially part of it. Madame Claude, Friday, September 7th. It all starts as usual sharp 10pm for an admission of donation, after that Rad Spin Rotate Club covering decks; VJ Repin responsible the visuals.
